Atlas Obscura x Land Rover Discovery: Supporting the Story From Ground to Air
There are projects where the strongest work comes from a team of specialists working toward the same visual language.
For this Atlas Obscura x Land Rover Discovery production, Novais Studios joined K Films as part of the wider production team, supporting the project through cinematography, drone operation, and director assistance.
Our role was to help capture the scale, movement, and atmosphere behind the experience, from the vehicle moving through the landscape to aerial perspectives that opened up the environment around it.
Building Scale Into an Automotive Story
Automotive filmmaking is rarely just about getting a clean shot of the vehicle.
The surroundings matter.
Movement matters.
And the way the camera relates the vehicle to the landscape can completely change how the final piece feels.
For this production, the California setting gave us room to work with natural terrain, changing elevations, and wide outdoor environments. Our contribution focused on helping translate that scale onto screen while keeping the Land Rover Discovery connected to the adventure around it.
From Ground-Level Cinematography to Drone Coverage
Combining ground and aerial perspectives gave the production more ways to communicate movement.
On the ground, cinematography could stay closer to the vehicle and the details of the experience.
From the air, drone coverage helped reveal the landscape and give the audience a clearer sense of where the journey was taking place.
Those two perspectives work especially well in automotive and outdoor brand films, where the environment is often as important to the story as the product itself.
Supporting a Larger Production
This was a collaborative project, and our role was one part of a larger production led alongside K Films.
That distinction matters to us.
Good production work is often highly collaborative, with directors, cinematographers, camera teams, drone operators, assistants, producers, and many others contributing their expertise to the same final piece.
For Novais Studios, joining this project meant stepping into that larger creative process and supporting where our team could bring the most value.
Alongside cinematography and aerial work, our director assistance helped keep the visual direction moving consistently across the production.
Automotive Video Production in California
Projects like this continue to expand the type of commercial production work we support beyond Utah.
Whether we are leading a full production or joining another production company as part of the crew, the goal stays the same: understand the creative direction, support the story, and capture imagery that feels intentional.
The Atlas Obscura x Land Rover Discovery project was a strong example of that approach.
From ground-level movement to aerial cinematography, our contribution was about helping bring a cinematic sense of scale to the experience.
Collaboration Behind the Camera
Not every project in our portfolio starts and ends with Novais Studios.
Sometimes our role is to join an existing production, bring our crew and technical experience into the mix, and help strengthen what is already being built.
We were glad to be part of this one with K Films, Atlas Obscura, and Land Rover Discovery.
